Please do not email or call asking for advice regarding a family member’s struggle with addiction or mental health issue.  It is unethical for me to provide advice without seeing the specific person you have in mind.  I am not a licensed mental health professional.  I am a Drug Education Specialist (Educator).  This does give me a specific skill set and insights regarding teen and family health, but  your mental health professional’s advice and insight should be your primary source of information.  I am happy to refer you to resources.

Jeff Wolfsberg writings, texts, comments, phone conversations, and emails are not psychotherapy or medical advice nor a substitute for psychotherapy or medical advice. If you need professional help, you are urged you to contact a licensed psychotherapist, mental health professional, and/or physician in your community. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency room or call 911.

Students are welcome to e-mail questions for school newspaper articles, assignments for health and psychology classes, follow-up questions from a seminar, and we especially like feedback regarding your participation in a seminar.  Due to professional ethics, we must implement the following guidelines when receiving an e-mail from a student at a client school. When a student e-mails our organization we notify the school that the student has made contact with us. The name of the student is shared with the school; however, the content of the e-mail is withheld, unless;  the e-mail content represents an immediate danger to the student or someone else, the student is in danger (physical and sexual abuse), any and all references to feelings of suicide and/or violent actions.  We no longer answer questions from students regarding personal matters.  We are sorry for this development.  It is based on a parent in Minnesota named Roberta who’s homophobic and psychotic dangerous behavior made it impossible for many consultants to available to students in a way you needed.  Good luck to you.

We know this may discourage some students from reaching out for help.  We are deeply committed to student health and we hope that if you are experiencing any of the issues mentioned above you reach out to a trusted adult and/or your school mental health professional, or your own personal therapist.  If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest ER immediately.
