Ellen Porter Honnet,  Ed.D.
Dr. Ellen Porter Honnet, is the Director of the Stanley H. King Counseling Institute.  At the Institute teachers and school personnel from independent schools both in the USA and abroad are trained in listening and counseling skills.  Ellen also lectures and provides workshops for schools, students, parents, peer counselors and colleges on topics ranging from teen brain development, sexuality and risk taking, to stress, depression, loss and coping in adolescence and advising and counseling. As a licensed psychologist she currently has a private practice in Newton, Massachusetts.

Alcohol Screening
AlcoholScreening.org is a free service of Join Together, a project of the Boston University School of Public Health. AlcoholScreening.org helps individuals assess their own alcohol consumption patterns to determine if their drinking is likely to be harming their health or increasing their risk for future harm. Through education and referral, the site urges those whose drinking is harmful or hazardous to take positive action, and informs all adults who consume alcohol about guidelines and caveats for lower-risk drinking.

National Institute on Drug Abuse This site provides reliable, factual data and is a valuable resource for parents and educators looking for effective ways to communicate with young people about alcohol and other drug use.

Pride Surveys Pride Surveys was created in 1982 by educators at Georgia State University in Atlanta and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. Their purpose was to help local schools measure student alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.

Safety First: A Reality-Based Approach to Teens, Drugs, and Drug Education The Safety First project was launched in 1999 after the San Francisco Chronicle published a letter written by Dr. Marsha Rosenbaum to her son, Johnny. As he was about to start high school, she wanted to outline her concerns about alcohol and other drugs that he might encounter in high school and provide some realistic strategies on how to stay safe.
