Mom, Did You Ever Try Drugs?

Jeff answers question like:

  • “What do you tell your kids about your own history with alcohol or other drugs?”
  • “Is it okay to snoop in your child’s room?”
  • “How do you recognize the signs that your child may be drinking or using other drugs?”
 2 Disc Audio CD! - $34.99

“It's like taking current self-help guru Tony Robbins and combining him with Dr. Wayne Dyer - although not as spiritually focused as Dyer. Jeff remains grounded and nonjudgmental. Almost any parent, regardless of parent style can gain some helpful tips.”    -    Chris, Parent – Philadelphia, PA

“Finally, someone who's talking about teens who knows about teens. I've read books and attended conferences with speakers from this university or that clinic, but you wonder "do these people actually talk to kids" You can tell Jeff works with kids a lot, he gets it, and thus helps.”  -   Ann, Parent – Cleveland, OH

“There's not a lot of good information out there about parenting teens through the complexities of drinking and drug use. This CD is thoughtful and sensitive to different parent styles. I've listened to it several times and have bought copies for relatives. Great humor.”   -   Karen, Parent – Los Angeles, CA

What is ParentReach?

ParentReachis a unique and pragmatic approach to parent education.  Parents are mailed professionally designed and engaging postcards with a key fact about preventing teen alcohol and other drug use.  On the back of the postcard is a set of questions and reflections designed to enhance parent–child and parent-to-parent communication regarding prevention skills and knowledge.  Postcards request that the parent/guardian take a few minutes to read and talk about the important key fact found on the card with their spouse and/or child to reinforce those attitudes and behaviors that research has shown to serve as protective factors against teen alcohol and other drug use.

“We were frustrated about the turnout at parent meetings.  We realized that most parents wanted to come, but were busy with a variety of family commitments.  ParentReach gives us an opportunity to connect with all parents in a targeted grade as many times as we want during the school year.  The postcards send an appropriate prevention message and they look fantastic!”
                                                                        Dean of Students

How does a school use ParentReach?

The postcards are designed to be used as either a standalone prevention approach or as a complementary strategy with an existing prevention effort.  Series 1 (shown below) is ideally suited for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade parents.  We recommend mailing the first postcard before the Holiday break.  The second mailing should be sent out prior to spring break and the last before the end of school.  Other postcard theme series will be introduced targeting bullying, prom and graduation season, spring break activities, athletics, and transition to college.

“We were looking for another way to reach parents without breaking the bank.  The ParentReach program is ideal because we can send out a targeted message that is consistent with our wellness philosophy. The flexibility and affordability make it a great asset.”
