Jeff’s Story
Jeff’s early life reads like that of a typical teenager growing up in a middle class town. However, below the surface and behind the scenes, Jeff was coping with childhood abuse, a parent with bipolar condition, personal depression, and eventually addiction. Here are the highlights:
- Born in a small suburban town in Massachusetts;
- High school class president, Boy’s State Representative, captain of numerous athletic teams, Student Council president, and voted “Best All-Around Student” by his classmates;
- Homeless and addicted to crack cocaine by the age of 23;
- Today, an internationally recognized expert and thought leader in drug education, adolescent and family health and personal leadership speaker, radio talk show host, and writer. Jeff’s articles and comments have appeared in TIME Magazine, FOX-TV, National Public Radio, Independent School Magazine, the Educational Digest, the Boston Globe and Herald, and numerous national media outlets.
Jeff’s personal story of resilience, tenacity, and faith offer inspiration and guidance to personal growth and success. Considering that most people with similar backgrounds are dead, in prison, or continuing to struggle with addiction, Jeff’s story is an inspiring triumph over addiction. Jeff has overcome many obstacles to make his dreams come true. Today he spends much of his time showing others how to do the same.
When he’s not traveling the globe delivering his uplifting message, Jeff is writing from his home outside Boston where he lives with his wife Elenie.
